**TERN derived NVIS Hierarchy 2026**

Summary of changes from VERSION 1.0:	

* Full dataset (only including plots 2011-2022), noting some plots will have 2-4 revisits. Some plots will be classified dissimailarly due to time of sampling event
* Updated growth forms (Tree vs Tree mallee) – there were a few persisting 	
* Included up to 3 dominant growth forms in L5 and L6 strings	
* Stratum rules – where tree / tree mallee is in M stratum, updated to U stratum	
* Where structural formation is the same for U and M, remove M stratum so there will only be U and G (i.e. U - T6r, M – T6r)	
* Reinstated ‘family’ level determinations – this was producing erroneous descriptions	
* Reinstated ‘Indeterminate’ determinations as this affects the 3 dominant growth forms, in some instances
* 16 plots have erroneous VICTA assignments for MVG and MVS. Comments\_RobP field addresses this and makes suggested MVG and MVS assignments. These are also included in the Output worksheet. 	
* To ensure the dataset is compliant with FAIR principles, they are available for download from the TERN Data Discovery Portal in two file formats: CSV and .xlsx
